VIEWPOINT | Year-round recreation a smart investment in Sioux Falls kids and families

What do Luverne, Minn. – population 4,946 – and Sioux Falls – population 213,981 – have in common? Each city has one public indoor pool. And until about a decade ago, that was not the case in Sioux Falls.
A little further back, as parents of young children needing a wintertime activity for them, my wife and I would drive to Luverne to give our children the chance to swim indoors while the cold, Midwest weather blasted us with below zero temperatures. So now, as a grandparent, I am reminded of the energy that kids have, and realize that our great city needs to work together to find healthy outlets for this exuberance.
