VIEWPOINT | We’re hearing the quiet part out loud
Guest column by Carol J. Eisenbeis, retired school teacher & columnist
I remember when people didn’t say the quiet part out loud. When the quiet part was not something to be celebrated or cheered on with a megaphone.
I remember when people believed that the Constitution was to be preserved and protected. When its words were valued and could be counted on.
I remember when slavery was acknowledged as wrong. When preferences for white supremacy and racism weren’t openly touted as appropriate. When the Civil Rights Act was not proclaimed to be a mistake by those held in high regard.
