South Dakota doctors, and patients, are locked in a life-or-death fight with antibiotic-resistant superbugs.

In recent years, several healthcare facilities have recorded outbreaks of the antibiotic-resistant "nightmare bacteria" known as CRE, which can kill up to half of infected patients.
