On July 15, 2025, something happened in Pierre that should set off alarms for anyone who believes in good governance, family values or fiscal responsibility.
The Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program, which is designed to support low-income families with children while they find work or education, saw its benefits cut by 10 percent, in direct contradiction to what the Legislature passed and approved earlier this year.
