VIEWPOINT | South Dakota ready to deliver on President Trump’s promise to rural America

In communities across rural America, hospitals are closing their doors, clinics are reducing services, and families are driving hours for basic medical care. The healthcare infrastructure that holds our small towns together is crumbling—not because of lack of need, but because of lack of resources. The financial picture will only worsen as the cuts to Medicaid in the One Big Beautiful Bill are implemented. That’s why President Trump’s Rural Health Transformation Fund represents such a critical opportunity, and why it is imperative to distribute these funds as quickly as possible.
