Operation Prairie Thunder is already underway in Sioux Falls. It involves our police, our sheriff’s office, and federal agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security. Beyond that, the public has been told almost nothing.
Here’s what we do know: Prairie Thunder is a multi-agency law enforcement program, described as targeting violent crime and fugitives in the Sioux Falls area. But according to Mayor Paul TenHaken himself, violent crime in Sioux Falls is at a five-year low. If that’s true, then the obvious question is: why Prairie Thunder?
