VIEWPOINT | Pool votes could raise your city tax bills

I want to alert you about a costly proposal that is being voted on by the City Council that could put our community in financial peril.
For the past year, the City Council has been entertaining a proposal to borrow $77 million for several pool and recreation projects. This has included a grandiose indoor athletic complex at Frank Olson for $47 Million, a remake of Kuehn Park Pool for $18 Million and the purchase of the Westside Sanford Wellness Center for approximately $9 million. This Sanford deal appears to be a taxpayer-funded bailout for the hospital system.
