VIEWPOINT | New mayor brings opportunity, challenge for sustainable future in Sioux Falls

Our new Sioux Falls mayor and the newly configured City Council now face two challenges. First, they must govern effectively. Second, and more importantly, they must provide a vision defining the major issues that will impact Sioux Falls now and into the future and then convince this community that they are willing and able to translate that vision into reality.
Issues might include education, economic development, safety, clean air and water, and expansion of Sioux Falls green space. None, however, may be as important as addressing the impact of climate change on this community and on the urgent need to accelerate the transition to a sustainable future.
