My father came to America with nothing but the clothes on his back and the memory of what happens when governments decide that some human lives do not matter. He survived the Holocaust. He built a life here from scratch. And he taught me that every single life has dignity — and that we must be wise enough and honest enough to defend that dignity in ways that actually work.
That is why I need to talk to you honestly today about where the movement stands, where a recent bill went dangerously wrong and what we must do now.
