VIEWPOINT | It’s time to give South Dakota a choice with education

The U.S. Senate has a rare opportunity to expand educational opportunity — not just in South Dakota, but across the nation. The Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA) is a promising, bipartisan solution that would empower families with real options when it comes to how and where their children learn best.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune has already signed on in support, and I’m hopeful that both he and Sen. Mike Rounds will champion this effort as it moves forward.
Since I’m often labeled as "the political one" among friends, one of the most common questions I hear from young parents in South Dakota is: "Why don’t we have more educational choices here?"
