The future is big, bright, and bold at the Great Plains Zoo campus. Next week, we will share a 15-year transformative strategy that brings our mission to life, while creating a one-stop, year-round immersive nature experience. When the zoo merged with the Butterfly House & Aquarium in 2023, we promised a bold, new vision – and this is it.
In the near term, the master plan includes a world-class aquarium, reimagined butterfly rainforest, and a new education center – as well as an optional space for an updated and modernized Delbridge Museum of Natural History. This is the first step to bringing our merger to fruition – creating one destination in our vibrant city of Sioux Falls.
