VIEWPOINT | Don’t let THC fears, poison pills sink the Farm Bill
Guest column by Mike Jaspers, former South Dakota Ag Secretary & state USDA Rural Development director
Having served as South Dakota’s Secretary of Agriculture, I understand just how vital the Farm Bill is to our nation’s growers and producers. That is why it tends to be one of the few truly bipartisan efforts left in Congress. With rural America in desperate need of the support that comes through the many vital programs contained within this legislation, Congress should steer clear of including any controversial and non-essential elements that could slow down or prevent passage of this year’s Farm Bill.
