VIEWPOINT | Congress should extend health care tax credits

As a proud advocate for the GOP in South Dakota, I am becoming increasingly concerned that our party is at risk of losing our slim majorities in both chambers of Congress because of an issue that looms especially large heading into the 2026 midterm cycle: the cost of health care.
Trump pollsters Tony Fabrizio and Bob Ward recently released a poll that found 78 percent of Trump supporters are in favor of extending a critical component of making health care more affordable: the enhanced premium tax credits that help millions of Americans purchase insurance in the individual marketplace.
