USD, Sanford start programs for emergency medicine docs
Sanford’s emergency medicine residency program will be the only one in South Dakota and parts of the region
It’s been nearly 40 years since the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine created a new department, but that’s about to change.
And the leaders of the school say it will only enhance health care – particularly rural health care – in the state. The department will be focused on emergency medicine. At the same time, USD officials were working with the Legislature and the South Dakota Board of Regents to secure funding for the department, Sanford Health and USD were working on establishing a separate residency program in emergency medicine.
