Tellef Johnson

Wednesday, Aug. 30 • 7:30 p.m.
Augustana University, Sioux Falls

Tellef Johnson will perform in Sioux Falls at Hamre Hall in the Humanities Building at Augustana University on Aug. 30 at 7:30 p.m.

A graduate of the Juilliard School, Johnson will be playing virtuoso Romantic piano showpieces by Liszt, Cziffra and Rachmaninoff. He will also play several of his original piano compositions, premiering “Moonlight Revisited,” a work inspired by Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata. In addition, he will also play several short works by Kaikhosru Sorabji, a mysterious British-Indian composer whose music is being heard for the first time almost a hundred years later after its inception.

Johnson is a Distinguished Alumnus of Brookings High School, was a Leonard Bernstein Fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center, and has had his compositions performed at New York’s Lincoln Center and Merkin Hall. He has also collaborated with Garrison Keillor and has received awards for filmmaking.

Ticket prices are $20 with free admission for students.
