The VA Show & Shine is a free community event featuring door prizes, food trucks, the El Riad Fife Drum Corps, LHS Marine JROTC Color Guard presentation, live music and other family-friendly activities. Registration is between 9-11 a.m. The event is hosted by the Sioux Falls VA Health Care System, which provides for the health care needs of Veterans in the Sioux Falls area.



The great pipeline debate

Tuesday, Aug. 22 • 7-8 p.m.
Dacotah Bank Event Center
824 32nd Ave., Brookings
Rep. Jon Hansen and Navigator Vice President Elizabeth Burns-Thompson will participate in a 60-minute “property rights and CO2 pipeline debate.” The debate will be moderated by Sara Frankenstein, public relations chair of South Dakota Federation of Republican Women. The Dakota Scout is also a partner in organizing the debate, which will mirror rules that governed the lone gubernatorial debate during the 2022 election cycle between Democratic Party nominee Jamie Smith and Gov. Kristi Noem.
