In Sioux Falls, hunting dogs were king of the pack in 2022.
According to pet licensing data analyzed by The Dakota Scout, hunting dogs are the most popular breeds of dog in the city. They include the Labrador Retriever, a ubiquitous breed in farming fields and water during pheasant and duck seasons.
Among cats, the city’s licensing data are more broad: The three most popular breeds are catchalls for most cats, with domestic shorthairs leading the list. They are followed by domestic long and medium haired cats.
Among specific breeds, ragdoll cats were licensed the most in 2022.
