Tensions linger between Minnehaha County Commission and auditor
Auditor Leah Anderson preparing report on general election
Minnehaha County Auditor Leah Anderson said Tuesday that she will attempt to finalize a report on the 2024 general election before the end of the year.
Anderson, who spoke to The Dakota Scout following her briefings to the County Commission on the District 15 recount and the post-election audit that her office oversaw, said she will try to get the report and presentation ready to go in order for Commissioner Jean Bender to participate. Bender did not run for re-election and leaves office at the end of the year.
During the briefing, Bender said she was disappointed that it didn’t sound like Anderson would have the report in 2024. Anderson defended her office, saying she and her staff have been working long hours for months. Early voting started in September, the office administered the election, a canvassing report was due a few days later, and then the District 15 recount and post-election audit were conducted.
