Mayor warns council of budget 'recalibrations' amid property tax reform
The 13th fire station in Sioux Falls will open next year, with plans for a 14th in the works, while a reconstruction of part of Minnesota Avenue will also take place.
Meanwhile, ground will break on another indoor pool at Frank Olson and a new outdoor aquatics facility at Kuehn Park.
Those are among the projects tucked into Mayor Paul TenHaken’s final capital improvement plan. Overall, the five-year plan lays out projects that will be started or completed in 2026, while prioritizing other projects in subsequent years. Those projects in later years can be moved around to fit with needs and the budget of the city, which could top a quarter of a million people in 2026. The 14th planned fire station has a placeholder for construction in 2030.
