Lincoln County’s small but busy airport is running out of room for planes — and patience from taxpayers.
That’s according to some leaders in Lincoln County, where commissioners are looking to shift the financial burden of operating the Marv Skie/Lincoln County Airport from taxpayers to those who use it — and a proposed hike in hangar lease rates is emerging as the central battleground in the debate.
The Lincoln County Commission on Tuesday considered budgetary demands of the growing aviation facility east of Tea, debating whether taxpayers should continue covering much of the bill or if airport users should pay more to store aircraft there.
