Gov. Larry Rhoden spent his first eight months as governor steering South Dakota onto what he called the high ground of “civil discourse.” Turns out that trail ride didn’t last long.

Earlier this month, the man who promised to “bring back civility” to Pierre decided to saddle up on social media and mock Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker — not for his policies, but for his waistline. “Maybe he should clean up Chicago,” Rhoden posted, “or at least eat a salad.”

That’s right — the cowboy who once lectured us about being kind and reasonable is now body-shaming fellow governors from the comfort of his 42x34 Wranglers. And look, I don’t know how the governor’s BMI calculator works out on the ranch, but a guy pushing 6 foot two inches, 265, probably shouldn’t be tossing lettuce jokes from the chuckwagon.
