Ever notice when an older person can’t remember your name, you instantly become “buddy,” “pal” or “partner?” With women it’s usually “honey,” “darling” or “sweetheart.” I’m not quite there yet, but I’m close enough to feel the warning signs. The face is familiar, the context is clear, the name is right there, and then it just disappears like it was never introduced in the first place.

Pierre has a way of triggering that feeling.
