Appreciate all the feedback after the first Straight Outta Pierre — especially your picks for the best view in South Dakota. Harney Peak (Black Elk Peak), prairie sunsets, the neighbor’s pasture are all solid choices. Personally, I’m still partial to the view from Pierre when the legislature finally adjourns.

But enough sightseeing. It’s time to get back to where the real drama happens. Let’s get to it.

Who doesn’t think Governor Rhoden is running in 2026? I sure do. Not to disparage former first ladies, but Sandy Rhoden? Pure West River class. She’s his secret weapon — charming Republican women statewide into voting for the cowboy. No other candidates got that. Might be worth a 5-point edge come June. …
