PIERRE — A push to shield South Dakota children from sexually explicit and other adult-themed advertisements during streaming programming has stalled at the state Capitol.

Legislators in the state House on Tuesday rejected House Bill 1116 on a 43-23 vote, halting Rep. John Shubeck’s crusade to make South Dakota the first state in the country to regulate certain advertising content delivered through streaming platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu.
