South Dakota lawmakers have already begun staking out policy ground weeks ahead of the start of the state’s 101st Legislative Session.

Seventeen bills filed with the South Dakota Legislative Research Council as of Dec. 23 signal renewed battles over familiar issues, alongside emerging policy debates, when legislators convene at the Capitol on Jan. 13.
