South Dakota lawmaker won’t resign as tax status probed in Minnehaha County

A Lower Brule lawmaker will not resign after tax records revealed her primary residency is outside of the South Dakota legislative district she represents in the state Senate.

Instead, Sen. Tamara Grove told The Dakota Scout that she has begun the process of rectifying discrepancies between property tax designations on a home she owns in Sioux Falls that have sparked uncertainty about her eligibility to serve as a District 26 legislator and prompted calls for her resignation.
