South Dakota Independent's first quarter haul sets new pace for non-GOP Senate hopefuls
Brian Bengs' early fundraising highest for non-Republican candidate in nearly two decades
An independent candidate for U.S. Senate in South Dakota is posting the strongest early fundraising numbers for a non-Republican contender in nearly two decades.
Two-time U.S. Senate hopeful Brian Bengs has reported raising more than $235,000 between Jan. 1 and the end of March in his most recent filing with the Federal Election Commission, marking the largest single-quarter campaign fundraising total by a candidate not under the umbrella of the state’s majority political party since 2008.
