PIERRE— South Dakota’s ranching governor won’t back a permanent ban on commercial sales of lab-grown meat.

Gov. Larry Rhoden on Monday vetoed legislation that seeks to classify cell-cultured proteins as “adulterated products,” reiterating free market concerns voiced by not only South Dakota’s business and economic development industry but segments of the agriculture community as well.
