The sun will not shine on a proposed solar energy project in southeast South Dakota.

That’s the case after Lincoln County commissioners rejected a 60-acre solar farm near Lennox on Tuesday night.

The 3-2 vote extended a pattern of disputes over economic development in the county’s southern half. Officials are wrestling with how to pursue growth outside the Sioux Falls-Tea-Harrisburg corridor.
