The South Dakota Democrat Party will run a candidate against U.S. Rep. Dusty Johnson for the first time since voters first sent the third-term congressmen to Capitol Hill.

Sioux Falls Democrat Sheryl Johnson announced her candidacy for U.S. Congress Wednesday during a campaign event downtown where she said she’s frustrated with the state of American politics and federal lawmakers’ inability to find effective solutions to immigration policy, women’s rights and tax fairness.
