Sioux Falls unveils land growth numbers from 2025
Eight annexations add hundreds of acres to inventory of South Dakota's largest city
The city of Sioux Falls once again stretched its borders in 2025.
Newly released year-end data shows Sioux Falls annexed more than 700 acres of land that pushed its city limits to 86.3 square miles last year.
“We continue to grow as a community, and slow and steady growth is even better for us,” Sioux Falls Finance Director Shawn Pritchett said Tuesday while addressing city councilors during their first budget planning session of the year. “We want to consistently see that, especially if it’s steady and predictable, being able to manage and keep up with that growth.”
