Sioux Falls Slim Chickens fighting government’s discrimination lawsuit

Company says it investigated complaint made by worker who alleged racial, sexual discrimination

The owner of the Slim Chickens franchises in Sioux Falls is denying the federal government’s assertion that it allowed an employee to be discriminated against.

TNT Chicken Inc. filed an answer to a lawsuit brought against the company by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission last month. The EEOC alleges that a former employee who was a black woman was subjected to racial slurs and sexual harassment by her shift leader.

The former employee – identified as the Aggrieved Individual in the EEOC complaint – also alleged that the same shift leader threatened to kill her.

DOH asks SD medical providers to watch for infections after poultry farms hit with bird flu

The South Dakota Department of Health issued a warning to medical providers after two poultry farms in the state reported cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza, or bird flu.
