Sioux Falls School District bans cell phones during high school class hours
Policy to go into effect during 2025-26 school year; board president urges residents to vote in election
The Sioux Falls School Board on Monday approved a stricter cell phone policy for high school students.
The new cell phone policy, which takes effect at the start of the 2025-26 school year, will prohibit high school students from using phones in classrooms and academic hallways during the day. However, they may still use them in the lunchroom during their lunch period. According to the Sioux Falls School District, the policy was developed by a 36-member committee and informed by more than 12,000 community survey responses.
