The Sioux Falls Arts Commission wants to make it easier to paint murals in the city.

The downtown district of South Dakota’s largest metro area has become a regional “art hub” in recent decades, driven in part by the increasing number of sculptures lining the neighborhood’s streets. And more recently, prominent murals on building sides throughout the city have progressed the city’s art scene.

But there’s still some confusion over the rules when it comes to painting the sides of buildings or other prominent outdoor spots across the city.
