The next election for Sioux Falls mayor and City Council will be June 2, 2026.
The date represents a change from municipal elections in April that was mandated by the South Dakota Legislature in a move intended to boost turnout.
The choice for the Sioux Falls City Council on Tuesday was to hold the election during the June primary or the November general election.
