Sioux Falls mayor's race headed for runoff between Erickson, Smith
Five-candidate field winnowed to two after no one received more than 50 percent
The next mayor of Sioux Falls won’t be known for another three weeks.
That’s when Christine Erickson and Jamie Smith will go head to head in a runoff to decide the 2026 mayoral election after neither cleared a 50 percent threshold to avoid a runoff. With 45 of 79 precincts reporting, Erickson had 38 percent of the vote while Smith had 28 percent.
