Sioux Falls mayoral hopefuls tout experience, backgrounds in Chamber forum

Hundreds turn out to hear candidates talk economic development, growth, public safety

Four candidates running for Sioux Falls mayor pitched about 300 members of the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce Tuesday on why they have the backgrounds and experiences that best suit them to lead the city.

Joe Batcheller, Christine Erickson, Greg Jamison and Jamie Smith answered questions for more than an hour on broad topics that included managing growth, promoting workforce housing, fostering relations with neighboring communities and public safety. On many issues, there was little daylight between them – they all agreed, for example, that public safety is a top priority.

A fifth candidate, David Zokaites, was not invited to participate.
