Sioux Falls ‘erroneously’ lowered speed limit on Minnesota Avenue, state official says
State officials say the City of Sioux Falls placed signage on a stretch of state highway without authorization, effectively lowering the speed limit by 15 mph.

The South Dakota Department of Transportation is working to address a speed limit discrepancy after saying the City of Sioux Falls reduced the speed limit on a state highway without following proper procedures.
The section in question lies along Minnesota Avenue/South Dakota Highway 115 between 85th Street and Veterans Parkway, where the posted speed limit sign is 40 mph.
But the state’s rulebook, written and edited in Pierre, dictates that stretch of roadway should be a 55 mph zone.
