Sioux Falls denies woman was seriously injured in high-speed police chase
City's response to lawsuit disputes allegations made by Nebraska woman
The city of Sioux Falls is denying the allegations of a Nebraska woman who sued the city for initiating what she says was a high-speed police chase that resulted in her getting injured in a crash.
The city’s response to the lawsuit filed by Shelia Risseeuw takes issue with some of the allegations that Risseeuw raised. However, the city does admit that two of its officers were involved in a chase that led to an accident involving the Cherry County, Nebraska woman.
Risseeuw was driving a vehicle near the intersection of East 10th Street and Cliff Avenue on Aug. 25, 2023, when two police officers attempted to pull over a suspect. She alleges she was traveling eastbound on 10thStreet when the accident occurred.
