Sioux Falls Fire Rescue will soon add another fire station to its network.

The city fire department, along with Mayor Paul TenHaken and local leaders, broke ground on the site of its planned 13th fire station near West 62nd Street and North Career Avenue Thursday morning in northwest Sioux Falls.

The 12,500-square-foot facility is expected to cost an estimated $5.1 million and will grow the more than 200-person department by 15 full-time employees.
