Growing pains will soon reveal themselves at the Sioux Falls Regional Airport as South Dakota’s busiest aviation hub wades into a new era despite financial uncertainty.

The temporary closure of some hospitality services — which will dampen air travelers’ visits to South Dakota’s busiest terminal starting next month — is part of what airport officials describe as the most ambitious expansion at Joe Foss Field in history, a project that took another step forward this week.
