Sioux Falls Airport expansion on track for August construction

The Airport Authority can borrow up to $30 million for the first phase, which will increase the number of gates from 7 to at least 11.

The Sioux Falls Regional Airport is moving forward with the first phase of an expansion that will open the possibility of more flights to more places for area travelers.

The City Council on Tuesday gave its blessing for the Airport Authority to borrow up to $30 million to help pay for what’s called “the skinny plan,” a bare-bones version that will expand the number of gates from 7 to at least 11.
