SPRINGFIELD – “Don’t let them poach it,” a passerby told Bob Dooley Tuesday, as the former Mike Durfee State Prison warden stepped outside the Springfield Community Center for a smoke.

The retired state official had just finished speaking to Gov. Larry Rhoden’s Project Prison Reset Task Force — the panel of legislators, prosecutors and law enforcement leaders tasked with charting the future of corrections in South Dakota.
