Her political aspirations should have been paid by herself or her campaign funds. Those weren’t spent for the citizen taxpayers of South Dakota, they were spent for her personal goals.

Most of her traveling was done to raise her national profile and for advancement of HER career. Taxpayers should not have to cover that. She raised millions in donations for her personal agenda so she should pay those expenses out of her campaign funds

The SD legislators LOVE handing out free money to the executive branch - no strings attached, whether its for the governor or the Council of Economic Development.

Hey, legislators, how about a little homegrown DOGE? How about a few guardrails, sidebars, checks and balances on handing out your free money and bottomless credit cards?

I believe we do have DOGEers in both chambers...but, unfortunately, not enough of them.

We're going to need those funds paid back as our federal dollars decline.

This needs to stop. The only expenses that should be covered by the SD taxpayers is for the business of running South Dakota! Not book tours and speaking engagements!

Again, if Rhoden says we won’t have to worry about this amount of out of state travel from his administration, whether he says it or not, it’s clear Noem’s travel was not legitimate state business; otherwise, the same travel would be required and expected of Rhoden. I’m sure she was busy staring down communist dictators and kneeling and dancing for 47, but none of it was either necessary or a legitimate expense.

These credit card expenditures do not cover all bills paid for her. Highway Patrol paid troopers to accompany her on her trips, which took them off the road (their job), and overtime pay was likely necessary. According to Zip Recruiter the average hourly rate for HP troopers in South Dakota is $34 per hour. There were likely other expenses not paid by credit card, but paid directly by the state.

Anyone who believed Kristi Noem ran for governor to serve the people of South Dakota was duped. It has never been about serving anyone else. It has always been about acquiring a platform from which to promote herself. End of story.
