A South Dakota State University alumnus whose work is credited with helping prevent starvation for more than 25 million people will be honored Saturday with the dedication of a new sculpture on the SDSU campus.

Edgar McFadden, a wheat breeder who developed the rust-resistant wheat variety Hope, will be honored during a public ceremony and reception at SDSU.
