Energetic. Unified. Secure. Jubilant.

And . . . suspicious.

These are some of the emotions that South Dakota delegates say are enveloping the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee this week. The delegates were treated to an opening party Sunday night, with activities kicking off Monday in the lead up to former President Donald Trump’s nomination this week. South Dakota’s 29 delegates plus alternates include Gov. Kristi Noem, a Trump ally who is scheduled to speak Monday night.

This convention is overshadowed by Trump’s narrow survival of an assassination attempt Saturday in Pennsylvania. Trump will win the GOP presidential nomination this week. There is also excitement surrounding his vice president pick.
