A U.S. Postal Service plan to downsize mail processing in Sioux Falls will have an adverse effect on mail service to rural South Dakota, the state’s congressional delegation is warning.

USPS is currently studying a proposal that would remove Sioux Falls as a processing and distribution center. Mail that is collected in Sioux Falls and dispersed to locations around the country would instead be trucked to Omaha and dispersed there. Local Sioux Falls mail would then be trucked back to Sioux Falls and distributed through a local processing center.
