A high-profile bank bandit and escape artist sang like a bird 75 years ago this week during a return trip to South Dakota from his Leavenworth prison cell.
Arrested for robbing the First National Bank of Garretson, Kenneth Kitts and his reputation as a prolific heister and criminal ring leader were back in the state to name names, according to the March 26, 1951, edition of the Rapid City Journal.
