The legend of outlaw Jesse James’ horseback-leap across Devil’s Gulch grew a little larger 25 years ago.

Thanks to a fourth-grade class, a local reporter and a museum-to-museum gift, the Garretson Historical Society received four oil paintings, including one that depicts the disputed jump, according to the July 5, 2001, edition of the Argus Leader.
