More than a year after her passing, Winona Axtell Lyon had more gift donations in store for the Sioux Falls community, according to the 1950 Christmas Eve edition of the Argus Leader.
A decade after Lyon had given the county the ground where the present-day W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds is, the newspaper reported that the city of Sioux Falls would receive the single largest gift from her estate.
